EMBRS Features Built Into Every Lesson
Learning Goals and Quick Review
Each lesson begins with an explicit naming of the skill mastered. Followed by a Quick Review of skills students already have, this builds confidence, automaticity, and aids in eventual reading fluency.
New Learning
New Learning is introduced slowly in bite-sized formats, so students can continue to consolidate their Orthographic Mapping skills while slowly expanding their ability to read words and recognize new sounds.
Decodable Me
A revolutionary decodable book creation tool that will amuse, amaze, and help students of all ages learn to read with engaging stories written at their place in the Scope and Sequence.
Speak the Words
Imagine you have all the ingredients to bake a cake—flour, sugar, eggs—but you just leave them sitting on the counter. You don’t have a cake until you combine them.
In reading, letter sounds are the ingredients. The Speak the Words activity has a multi-sensory blending bar built-in, helping students form a physical connection to the phonemes as they navigate their first words as readers.
Drag the Words
Writing and reading are intrinsically linked. To write a clear sentence, you must understand how to structure one. By practicing how to organize jumbled words into a logical sentence (reading), students are simultaneously learning the framework they need to formulate their own sentences. Our Drag the Words activity is the perfect scaffold from letter sounds, to word reading, to encoding.
Dictation
At its core, difficulty reading is often a difficulty with phonological processing—the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate the individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words. With orthographic mapping being the goal, This active, effortful process of building a word sound-by-sound, letter-by-letter, is what forges the strong neural pathways required to store that word for effortless, instant retrieval later.
